Tmobile has a very similar plan but it is 4g for $30. The first 5gb are 4g and then it downgrades speed. I'm not sure if it downgrades to 2.5 or 3 however.

I doubt FF or chrome will be opt-in as long as google is holding the purse strings for both (or directly developing as in chrome). Google is the world's number one internet advertising provider... they aren't going to automatically opt-out people and cost themselves millions of dollars.

What about charging 10-15 seconds of CPU time with some arbitrarily hard code? It seems like everyone agrees that CAPTCHAs are an arms race that the good guys can't win, why not make it where it isn't profitable to solve the CAPTCHA replacement on a large scale?

Thats why the MAFIAA quickly drops suit when they try their crap against someone with deep pockets. (as Oracle is finding out about Google now)

I call them cretins every day. I am not sure if they know what it means, however. I try to confuse them by saying it in a light, cheery tone like "How are my cretins doing today?"

I love that the link goes to a 404 page... the fact is that MS is discontinuing support for a 10 year old version of an OS. No one else to my knowledge supports an OS as old as XP at the level Microsoft has since Vista and 7 were released. Don't get me wrong, I'll use RHEL or Ubuntu any day over XP or 7 for that matter... but credit is due when credit is due.

You sir have no idea what hacking is. Hacking is not stealing, hacking is exploring and creating new uses for devices and software. Pirating is what you are referring to. The "hackers" that are following an internet HOWTO that walks them through downloading ripped PS3 games are nothing more than cheapskates costing the rest of us useful tools like OtherOS.
