If coal is so expensive, why are these two giants basing their energy security on coal? Because coal (and gas) work, like nuclear, they can supply reliable base load power needed to run any industrial economy. They know the intermittent nature of wind and solar are unreliable and too expensive to make them the basis of their energy plan. Look at where wind and solar are added the most. In California and Germany unreliables have been added in too large amounts, and their power costs are much higher than areas with reliable coal, gas, and nuclear plants.

No the vaccines should NOT be approved, especially on this rush basis. The phase 3 clinical trials are not finished until late 2022 or 2023, so no data on long term effects. Further there is NO control group left from the initial Moderna and Phizer trials ! They unblinded the trials so the control (placebo) group was given the vaccine. Did you even look at the data tables and graph in the link I posted? Feb 16, 2021 according to ERCO wind was 6%, solar 2%, Nat gas 65%, Coal 18%. So fossil fuels and nuclear were 92% of Texas electrical generation. Look at the graph Feb 8-14th, you see wind and solar are a tiny band riding on top of the total energy from gas, coal, and Nuke.
