Comment Slackware is a "little one"??? (Score 5, Interesting) 608
You said don't complain about options. so what? I'm complaining, not at the number, but the quality of choices. Caldera? Connectiva? While Debian is worthwhile and RedHat is better known, it seems to me Slackware is the truest linux out there. I chose it after trying several for two reasons 1) the people I respected most use it, and 2) I read they were dedicated to clean and organized, maintaing compatibility ( instead of trying to become some proprietary, non-compliant windows-like king of the world ). I also run linux inside of OS/2 Warp 4.5 and slack provides a great model. In fact the OS2-Unix project uses Slackware as a model because it stays so close to unix roots. Bottom line is Slack is the first OS to consistently steal drive space away from windows. I love it. Stuff just compiles *right* in it.
