All very true. It's almost sad the decent gear of yesteryear that gets given away on freecycle/freegle oat or that sells for modest prices on auction sites or via charity outlets. Newer isn't always better. Or more reliable. OK there's a retro-chic element too I suppose. But not everybody wants that old bulky stuff cluttering up their house any more and some of it was ridiculously big but often reassuring well made. It would be criminal to just send it to landfill. That's not be be snobby about how good some ipod dock or phone and headphone setups can be for very modest money these days.
