When you have a product, you want people to buy it. Therefore it is a necessity to make that product known. To object against advertising therefore basically negates the right to do business. So I would not say advertising is a bad thing. If you permit advertising to influence you, define your own value with brand-name products and need them to feel that you 'belong' to society it is really your problem.
