Comment Re:Woke has no meaning in capitalism (Score 2) 39

It's not woke if it's relevant to the plot. Gamer's problems with "woke" in games are when they center a game around a black samurai or some other intrusive inclusion that doesn't make sense and takes you out of the gameplay. If your game is super fun, then NPCs start lecturing you about pronouns, it's not as fun anymore. People just want some distraction from modern life, modern politics, etc, then don't want it shoehorned into their recreational activities.

...maybe if they stopped shoehorning it into every crevace of their products, people wouldn't actively hate it. Opened outlook for mobile today and there's a new fucking copilot button at the bottom, taking up room, the only color icon on the bar, completely useless and out of place. I open Acrobat and have to click multiple nag windows every week to get rid of AI pitches and other assorted bullshit. AI could be helpful, but to most people it's intrustive, privacy invasive and like a 24/7 advertisement you can't escape.

Comment 20 Year Customer Left (Score 2) 45

I had T-Mobile from my first RAZR flip phone when every part of their service sucked except the customer service. Kept it for 20 years, most of those on a grandfathered unlimited plan that was so old, it didn't appear in their system and I couldn't add a new line. Went and shoved me onto some dopey new plan that would have been fine but for the increase in price and I've been on Fi ever since. Sometimes it's best to just not fuck with customers that pay you reliably without any complaint.

Comment Apple free household (Score 2) 137

I thought about subscribing to Apple TV but it turns out, you need a smart TV or apple streaming device. I'm not buying a one off apple doohickey just to stream a few shows. I guess they will soon allow their content via Prime Video, but by now, I've gotten used to ignoring all news of apple tv shows.

Comment Google...bad products, minimal support (Score 1) 27

I'm amazed at how unprepared Google is to repair their own products. Wife has washed my Series A buds twice. Both times the case was destroyed but the buds still worked and no replacement case is available. Have to buy from EBay instead. More irritating, it would take about $0.05 of gaskets to seal the USB port and charging pogos and the case would be as waterproof as the buds.

Take away their safe harbor protection, since they are no longer one. If they curate, it's no longer just the comments of the participants, it's now "journalism" and things like libel apply...which would of course, shut down all the people on the "other side" from the ones they're silencing as well, and we could go back to kitty pix and meals and platitudes....in peace.

It's not just media aggregators though. Even Amazon which has displaced countless competitors censors many buyers for arbitrary rules such as "too negative". They keep a list of accounts banned from reviewing items on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheGr... They are even worse to sellers who depend on the site for their livelihoods.
