The reaction to Apple's announcement shows that it hit the mark very well.
Suddenly, the Wintel world is on the defensive and they will grab at all sorts of straws to explain away the news - just like the Apple fans did when they were on the defensive until yesterday.
We will hear about flawed benchmarking, false advertising(like Intel did not do it the MgHz myth), pricing manipulation(like no one else does it), and so on. The reality is... evolution. The 32 bit replace the 16 bit and gradually the 32 bit will give way to the 64 bit.
I am sure that no Wintel supporter will change their mind over the G5 claims but they will hurry to buy the next Wintel machine sporting a 64-bit capability.
Cheers mates, thanks for making my day.

Journal Journal: Multimedia Literacy

I posted this to the general forum but in case it gets rejected I posted it here to:

A current topic in higher education circles is "multimedia literacy." The idea is that all students need to be know how to express themselves using digital media, how to find information, how to "read" other peoples' multimedia work.

What do you all think about it? Is the ability to express oneself using digital media as important as reading and writing? Preparation for the future, maybe?

Journal Journal: War Strategy -- Media coverage

I am not a military strategist, I have never played on TV but I am beginning to wonder about media coverage of the Gulf II.

I am sure that you all will correct me if I am wrong. But I think what we are seeing right now is consolidation of positions, ensuring supply lines and "softening" the defenses around Baghdad.

Journal Journal: Iraq plans atrocities...

I found a curious story about Iraq buying US and British uniforms for its soldiers. The article suggests that they may be used by the Iraqi army to commit atrocities and then blame the US and UK troops for them. I think that this could also be used to confuse US and UK troops about who is the enemy. The news service picked up on the AP wire. Check it out and see what you think.
