The development environment is not standing still. In fact, a new language 'Objective Modula-2' based upon an old one 'Modula-2' is being worked upon. The compiler is based upon the GNU/Modula-2 compiler which intergrates with GCC. ObjM2 uses the same runtime as ObjC, and will seemlessly intergrate with Cocoa.

My first computer was an Amiga-1000. Used Macintoshs, Sun and HP unix workstations, and PC running windows. I now use Linux. My interests include Science (especially physics), Computers (OS, and compilers). I also have an interest in many computer languages beyond the required "C", which includes Modula-2 (and Modula-3), and of course the ancient Fortran. Other topics of interest are Astronomy, Science Fiction, and Martial Arts such as TaeKwonDo. In an off-computer topic I am also learning Esperanto, and Lojban (spoken constructed languages).
