A Closer Look At the Syrian Electronic Army 47

tsu doh nimh writes "Yesterday saw the publication of two stories focusing on two different Syrian men thought to be core members of the Syrian Electronic Army, the hacking group that took credit for recent break-ins that compromised the Web sites of The New York Times, The Washington Post and other media outlets. Working with a source who says he hacked into the SEA's servers this year, Vice.com profiles a fairly high-profile SEA member who uses the nickname "ThePro" and outs him as a young man named Hatem Deeb. Separately, Brian Krebs managed to get hold of the SQL database for the SEA's Web site after it was allegedly hacked this year, and follows a trail of clues back to one of two administrators of the SEA, which leads to another Syrian guy — a Web developer named Mohammed Osman, a.k.a. Mohamed Abd AlKarem."

Lawsuit Against RIAA Tries To Stop Them All 154

I Don't Believe in Imaginary Property writes "Tanya Anderson has filed an amended complaint against the RIAA. One of the more interesting provisions in it is in the 18th claim, which seeks to stop the RIAA from 'continuing to engage in criminal investigation of private American citizens', no doubt referring to the unlicensed MediaSentry investigations. If granted, that could shut down the RIAA lawsuits entirely. Naturally, the RIAA doesn't like this at all. First, they got the judge to agree that the original complaint was too light on the details, so it was amended. Now the RIAA complains that it's too long, because it's 108 pages filled with the RIAA's dirty laundry. You may remember this as the countersuit to the lawsuit where RIAA lawyers tried to grill a 10-year-old girl, only later to drop their case for lack of evidence and have the mother sue them for malicious prosecution."

The irony is that in America, anyone who votes for the two major parties is voting for the rise of Fascism.

Yeah, but just try telling a democrat that Clinton was just as willing to put an end to our privacy as Bush

I dunno. I was around for Daddy Bush's reign, and Clinton's, and W's. The country really did change when Clinton came into power. You weren't looking over your shoulder as much. You weren't having to constantly fight to keep your rights. Sure, it wasn't perfect, sure they were slimy politicians, but they weren't horrible. Sometimes they did things I agreed with.

And then, of course, when W came into power, it all got bad again. Keep in mind, folks, it was the Bushes who fought the First and Second Oil Wars.

If all the people who cherish liberty don't vote because they believe the choices are Tweedle-Di and Tweedle-Dum, then the other people get to pick their (and your) leader. And you'll probly end up with the Tweedle's evil cousin.
