Many are complaining that the Skype app's lack of receiving calls when inactive is a Windows Phone limitation. While this is true, the Tango Video Calling app uses WP's Push Notifications to work around this quite well in my experience. Skype could have easily done the same thing as a workaround until a real VoIP background agent API is introduced.

Allow me to quote a statement from the U.S. Department of the Treasury FAQ:

There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as for payment for goods and/or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether or not to accept cash unless there is a State law which says otherwise.

It makes no difference whether it is a "debt" or a "sale"; there is no Federal requirement that cash be accepted unless a State law says one way or another. In this case, State law is saying not to accept it. As someone living in Louisiana who rarely uses cash for anything more than a soft drink, I still think this law is yet another massive waste of legislation and I can't wait to see it stricken down.

You'll be glad to know there's at least one person out there (myself) who uses "Washington" and "DC". What also gets old is, "You're from California?" when you inform someone that you live in southern LA.

While it may work well for things like tab switching, mouse down activation will never be the case for buttons. The current method of LMB up activation allows a sort of "cancel" behavior a user accidentally clicks the wrong button. You simply continue to hold the button, drag the mouse off of said button and then release.

Not only that, if you let VLC 0.9 on Windows associate itself with video file extensions, it will eradicate Windows's ability to generate video file thumbnails. I had to export registry keys from a fresh Windows install in a VM to repair the damage.

The file copying fiasco was an attempt at optimizing the copying performance by tweaking buffer sizes, memory usage, and caching behavior. In some cases it succeeded, in other cases it failed miserably. It was compounded by the fact that XP reported the file as finished copying even while there was still cache data to be written to the drive. There is an article on TechNet that describes it in detail.

I work for a company that does not accept unsolicited resumes even when actively hiring. They require instead that you fill out their provided application. It's not a matter of cheap labor at all, rather it is a matter of efficiency. Instead of having to decipher pages of self-marketing, they have a standard form to review for each candidate so that a decision can be made with less hassle.

It also depends on which Steam game in particular. I repurchased Quake 1-3 via Steam and if you replace the executables with a non-Steam edition then it doesn't require Steam at all to continue functioning.

Louisiana Revised Statutes title 32 section 353:

No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of such vehicle, above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle and the original muffler shall comply with all of the requirements of R.S. 32:352.

In plain english: Changing your exhaust system in any way that makes it louder, assuming it was legal before modification, is illegal in the state of Louisiana.
I'm sure many other states have similar laws, and I'm sure many states that have laws fail to enforce them just as here in Louisiana. I can't comment on federal laws as I have not read them personally.
