When the company's landlord, Mario Segale, demanded back rent, Nintendo staffers named the game's barrel-jumping protagonist after him. Almost thirty years later, neither Nintendo — which continues to crank out Mario games — nor Segale — now a wealthy, secretive Washington State real estate developer — like to talk about how one of video games' iconic characters got his name and Italian heritage. Now, nearly a year since that announcement was made, MekTek Studios has announced that Microsoft Legal has given clearance for the free release of Mechwarrior4. This move by Microsoft Games couldn't come at a better time for the community, as the owners of MechWarrior are attempting a reboot of the franchise."

Handling Money Brings Pain Relief 103

Psychologists at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management have found that handling money can alleviate both physical and emotional pain. In one experiment, test subjects were found to feel less pain when their hands were dipped into scalding water after counting money. Lead author Kathleen Vohs said, "When people are reminded of money in a subtle manner by counting out hard currency, they experience painful situations as being not very painful. You could think about being able to charge yourself up before you encounter pain. When I used to run marathons, I would've maybe wanted to be reminded of money first."

"eagle" is #3 most searched image after the attack. I wonder how many people then found out that they wanted a bald eagle. I want to know how many people queried "Where is Chandra Levy?". The Internet Knows All. Proof that address bars are not the navigation of choice: Top 9/11 Query: "CNN". Google Knows All. Powerball. Google searchers do not find magic numbers before drawing. Google Does Not Know All. Proof Brick and Mortar=Peace of Mind on the Web: Amazon not in top searches for retailers. Or maybe someone discovered address bar. Whoah, Nicole Kidman is free!
