Comment Whoever thought this was a good idea (Score 1) 169

Whoever thought this was a good idea, should be taken out and shot. If I could remove every AD from my life I would. I spent countless hours back in the day recording shows on VHS tapes just so I could fast-forward through the commercials. Then I moved in the DVR phase and found really good luck with MythTV's auto commercial detection and skip features. Netflix is wonderful just the way it is.

The grandson whether he was aware or not of the purchases he was making should be forced to shoulder the debt. Force the grandson to get a job and pay the debt back, or file a criminal case against the grandson for identity theft and fraud, at which point the credit card company may refund the charges and the debt be applied to the guilty party along with all of the court fines etc. A bit extreme but again this is not on the vendor it is on the grandson, his parents and his grandmother.

This should not be a news story at all this should be a private learning lesson for the child, and his guardians.

This related article https://www.texastribune.org/2... was a very interesting read, however I think it left out some very key points and figures in the calculation. From that article "45 gigawatts total were offline, with 28 gigawats from thermal sources and 18 gigawatts from renewable sources"

First their math is off 18+28 does not equal 45 but 46.

Second they neglect to also include the negative impact of that 18 GW of renewal sources now draining power to prevent damage.

This could dramatically impact the demand on the grid increasing the problem.

I have long supported the following changes to the world.

1. Adopt and enforce English as the Universal Language for all interactions world wide.
2. Teach English in all schools world wide as the primary language.
3. All other non-English languages can be taught but only as additional culture classes with no educational impact or requirements, place them in the same area as Band, Theater and other electives.
4. World wide adoption of the standard Metric system, yes America that means you will need to change out all your signs, maps, packaging, regulation manuals etc.
4a. Imperial measurement classes can be taught but only as electives see 3.
5. World wide adoption of Driving on the right hand side of the road.
6. Standardize World Wide age limits for Driving, Voting, Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana, Firearms, Gambling and Adult entertainment. ( Honestly I could care less if its 16, 18, 21, or 25 ) as long as its the same everywhere.

While there are many many more things to rant about like bathrooms should all be made like those in Japan (No cracks in the Stalls) and We should all get to enjoy co-ed showers where you can ask that pretty person to scrub your back with out being made out to be a creep.

I think we if we could all adopt these 6 steps then a lot of the differences we have today would start to melt away.

How is this compared to any other group of democrats ?

They are all clowns, some are scarier than others, and I am terrified they have any power.
