Submission + - Arc Browser comes to Winders

dokjest writes: In an email received from the Browser Company, ARC browser is coming to Windows:

ARC
It all begins today

Hey there,

Hursh here, CTO at the Browser Co, with some exciting news!

A little while ago, you signed up for a brand new browser, Arc — one that The Verge called "The Chrome replacement I've been waiting for" and Shopify's CEO named as "the best browser."

Well, starting today, we're onboarding our very first beta testers to Arc on Windows.

And you’re next!

Over the coming weeks, our team will be onboarding hundreds of beta testers to Arc. And come January, we’ll be welcoming 1,000s of you from the waitlist every week.

If you don't mind a few bugs and some rough edges, sign up as a beta tester and we'll prioritize your invite to Arc!

For us, this period leading up to our Windows release is about crafting the very best version of Arc that we can. And that means learning from you — what you love, what's missing, what doesn’t feel quite right.

It still feels surreal to say, but it really does all begin today.

Follow along for some fun on isarconwindowsyet.com —

And we’ll see you very soon!

P.S. If you have a friend on Windows with one too many tabs, who could use a better browser — forward this on to them, too!

Charter Files For "Prearranged Bankruptcy" 82

jamie points out news that Charter Communications filed for "prearranged" Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Friday, primarily to reorganize some of the $21.7 billion in debt it has accrued. Quoting: "The St. Louis-based company seeks to emerge from bankruptcy as early as the end of summer and doesn't plan on selling any of its assets to competitors. After Chapter 11, interest costs at Charter, which has never posted a profit since going public in 1999 due to massive debt interest payments, will be cut in half to $830 million a year. The filing restructures about $8 billion of debt at Charter, which is controlled by Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen, but leaves about $13 billion of debt on its books. Allen will control 35 percent of the votes in the reorganized company. In the bankruptcy, Allen's 51 percent equity stake in the cable operator will be wiped out, along with shares of other stockholders. Allen also holds some debt and preferred stock."

Charter Cable Capping Usage Nationwide This Month 369

An anonymous reader writes with this snippet from DSL Reports, with possible bad news for Charter customers who live outside the test areas for the bandwidth caps the company's been playing with: "Yesterday we cited an anonymous insider at Charter who informed us that the company would very soon be implementing new caps. Today, Charter's Eric Ketzer confirmed the plans, and informed us that Charter's new, $140 60Mbps tier will not have any limitations. Speeds of 15Mbps or slower will have a 100GB monthly cap, while 15-25Mbps speeds will have a 250GB monthly cap. 'In order to continue providing the best possible experience for our Internet customers, later this month we will be updating our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) to establish monthly residential bandwidth consumption thresholds,' Ketzer confirms. 'More than 99% of our customers will not be affected by our updated policy, as they consume far less bandwidth than the threshold allows,' he says." But if they're lucky, customers will be able to hit that cap quickly.
