Okay

Please redo the maths by removing the following people.

1) 1%ers get the UBI payment but immediately have to pay it back in tax. Please remove them from the 330 million US population.

2) Average workers get the UBI payment but immediately have to pay it back in tax. Please remove them from the 330 million.

3) Unemployed workers can get the UBI or the current dole. Since UBI is less than the Dole. Please remove them from the 330 million.

4) The prison population (0.7% in the US) costing an average of $80K per "customer", will not receive the UBI. Please remove them from the 330 million.

NB The fact that they have money to survive on when they leave prison may stop them re offending. This effect, if real, would save money. Effectively we would be paying them to stay out of expensive prison.

> If the government is giving with one hand and taking back with the other. Why bother? Who benefits?

Answer) One class of people, who do receive the UBI and does not pay it back with greater Tax payments, is Women with children. They seem to work less hours (therefore pay less tax) but spend more time caring for the children. However, since children will be the next batch of tax payers and will pay for your retirement in future tax payments, is this not a good thing? ie to invest in their development and your future?

> Who loses?

The current means tested system requires people, desks, offices, computers, air travel, compliance control and courts to function. In Australia we have 25K people directly administering this system out of 25 million people. Or 1 in 1000 people. Assuming the US has a similar ratio then the US has 330K people working to administer it's system. If the average worker earns 50K and therefore costs 100K in total expense per employee then you are paying $33 billion on administration.

>What does society have to gain with the UBI?

If 100K people directly worked on the US space race to the moon in the 60s, then moving 25K people to productive work would mean that Australia could have 1/4 of US 1960s space program if we implemented the UBI. This would then lead to our world eventual domination.
