dknight's Journal: Puzzle Pirates

Recently, my fiance got into puzzle pirates (I believe her sister got her into it). She quickly became completely obsessed with it. Of course, she insisted that I join her in playing.

Now, I'm an old MUD player, so I know what its like to get addicted to a stupid game... This takes the cake however. I find myself all day long wanting to leave work so I can go play that stupid-ass pirate game! Its complete insanity.

I'm the first to acknowledge that the game is stupid and dorky, but damn. When I try to sleep, I see the puzzles! I read the forums all day long trying to learn more.

Its the same as with MUDs... I simply have to win. Now I understand that with these games there's no real winning, but I think you get the general idea. I need to be the biggest and the best there is in the game. I will have a remarkably single-minded devotion to that cause.

I pulled this off, back with the MUD I used to play... but I was in school then. It was so easy to dedicate insane amounts of time to it. Not to mention all the time that came from summer vacation. But now, I've got a job. I dont have long vacations or a lot of time. I dont know that I can meet my goal... but my obsession wont let me settle for any less. I spent 4 years addicted to MUDs... hopefully Puzzle Pirates wont be around that long ;)
