I really hope this research doesn't discourage people from purchasing hybrid cars. Even if they aren't more cost efficent at least by buying one you are telling the auto industry that consumers are ready and want for this type of technology.

Choi of LiveScience reports that a farmer in southern Henan Province in China has dug up the first known ant-eating dinosaur, a half-meter-long theropod (the dinosaur family to which T. Rex belongs), whose fossilized remains were described as 'fairly intact'. The 83- to 89-million-year-old pygmy dinosaur has been named named Xixianykus zhangi by Xig Xu, De-you Wang, Corwin Sullivan, David Hone, Feng-lu Han, Rong-hao Yan, and Fu-ming Du, whose paper on the critter, A basal parvicursorine (Theropoda: Alvarezsauridae) from the Upper Cretaceous of China, was published in the March 29 issue of Zootaxa (the abstract is available in PDF format for free, the full article is paywall-protected.)"

Intel's upcoming 8-core Nehalem-EX is launching later this month, according to Intel Xeon Platform Director Shannon Poulin. The announcement puts to rest rumors that the 8-core part might be delayed, and makes good on a promise Intel made last year when the chip maker said it would release the chip in the first half of 2010. To quickly recap, Nehalem-EX boasts an extensive feature-set, including up to 8 cores per processor, up to 16 threads per processor with Intel Hyper-threading, scalability up to eight sockets via Intel's serial Quick Path Interconnect and more with third-party node controllers, and 24MB of shared cache."

Lord Byron Eee PC writes "Newsweek is carrying a navel-gazing piece on how wrong they were when in 1995 they published a story about how the Internet would fail. The original article states, 'Nicholas Negroponte, director of the MIT Media Lab, predicts that we'll soon buy books and newspapers straight over the Intenet. Uh, sure.' The article continues to say that online shopping will never happen, that airline tickets won't be purchased over the web, and that newspapers have nothing to fear. It's an interesting look back at a time when the Internet was still a novelty and not yet a necessity."

freedom of speech. don't like it? move to north korea you red. i think its insulting to anyones intelligence to even begin to think that there should be some mass filtering of chat just because a couple of moms couldnt take their kids saying a couple of explicits. just because you can't tolerate it doesn't mean the rest of us want to cover our ears. i hate the average twelve year old on counterstrike as much as the next guy, but just because they have a vocabulary that covers all three and four letter words doesn't have an impact on me as a person or for that matter my gaming expierence. As its all a part of being a gamer. i am more than positive i was as annoying if not more annoying online. i had that freedom, so should they. its a part of culture to be rude just as its a part of our culture to be polite. without one you don't have the other. there are just as many rude, racist, sexist, homophobic biggots as there are online as there are in the real world and censoring either of them wont solve any problems. although i havent played wow in years now, theres always /report if you want to cry and have someone hold your hand.
