why do you need updates? music formats change very slowly. mp3 and flac are a mature format. youre not supposed to be putting internet enabled apps from a app store on it. there shouldn't be a vector of attack on it. nor should the device contain your personal files or your sole copies of your music.

You clearly do not know what you are talking about. When windows 10 came out microsoft tried hard and had a numerous amount of exclusive first and third party games on the windows 10 app store. since you want to bring sony into it, sony does not buy existing big game franchises to deny them from rival platforms. that is a microsoft thing and is happening right now with the three big games under development by microsoft owned bethesda.

keep improving the old one so you have new copyright on it and you can keep selling it again. thats what the book publishers do now. they make efits, add annotations, add/change illustrations. a small change is all thats required for them to make a derivative they have copyright over. people still buy from the publisher when the print quality is good.

yea thats fine. im not trying to say apple is great. at the end of the day theyre making a locked down device with a walled garden but at least they put in the money to do it. its in apples interest to not screw up the software or it will really hurt their hardware sales. epic wouldnt really care about this.
