Are you ready to acknowledge the US is an oligarchy and has abandoned democracy a generation or two ago? I am assuming you are also from the US and have no experience regarding democratic socialism or any mix of the two. If you allow the government to be ran by cooperate greed with no regard for the betterment or well being of the governed population, expect to be oppressed and forced into proprietary technology design with the only purpose of removing money from your wallet into theirs. Or you can keep your head up your ass and pretend that is not happening, and enjoy your iphone like a good little peon.

Exactly! And why should they give a hoot? To serve the interests of foreign cooperation’s who have no vested interest in their countries economy except to take money from it? The role of the government is to protect its people, and this should include being steamrolled by these large uncaring companies, this includes the US as well. It's a shame that liberties are traded so freely in the name of larger profits. Lobbyists be damned. Didn't the MPAA just state that it had its largest year, profit wise, in history in 2010?
