I come from an era when we still wrote assignments with pen and paper, there was no Wikipedia, and no online services schools use these days to detect plagiarized content. The concept was brought up, but in a tangential "this is bad, okay" context. Back then, it was more work to plagiarize content than it was to write your own, since you had to first locate the material in one of many physical books and then copy it out by hand.

There were always a couple dumbasses who would turn in reports that were substantially the same, having copied each other, but plagiarism wasn't as widespread back then. The heavier focus on the evils of plagiarism didn't really come along until turning in typed reports and easy copy-pasting of content became the norm. At least that was the case in primary and secondary schools. Unis always covered it more heavily, since there was a greater incentive at that level, making the added work seem worthwhile.

Animals rescue groups love to put language like this in their adoption contracts. You have to agree to give them access to your home at any time they demand it, so they can ensure it is still safe for your adopted pet, for the entire life of the animal rather than just as a pre-adoption inspection. If you refuse, they can reclaim the animal from you. I remember seeing language that from from one rescue that specialized in a species of bird that routinely lives 30+ years in captivity. Every single person who adopted from them effectively gave them on-demand access to their home for the rest of their lives.

And yet some people are crazy enough to agree to crap that like...

I'm pretty sure there's a requirement that the photo needs to have a sexual nature or be a coercive act in order for it to actually qualify as illegal. The polaroids your parents have of you playing in the tub as a toddler aren't considered kiddie porn, despite you being naked.

Now, that hasn't stopped overzealous cops and DAs from trying to prosecute people for such photos in the past, but I don't think any have ever resulted in a conviction. Not that it really matters, the mere act of being arrested on suspicion of kiddie porn is enough to thoroughly ruin your life regardless of what happens.

If you're using a car to urgently get to the hospital you deserve everything you get. Your lack of planning should not make you a risk to others. If you're suffering a medical condition then you can call a special car which makes a special noise for your urgent requirement.

That sounds great, except when there's no cell signal. Plenty of areas in the US that have no signal at all, or at best extremely intermittent. The deserts in the SW, pretty much every national park, every mountain range, etc. If I injure myself whilst in one of those areas, I shouldn't have to sit there and slowly die because a crappy AI thinks my mental state is more dangerous than the physical circumstances that are actively killing me.

Ever tried to use a cellphone after a hurricane rolled through? Or a tornado? The cellular network is either down entirely or is operating at reduced capacity and you're lucky to get through on the 50th attempt. Natural disasters have a lot of injuries associated with them that require medical attention, and cellular networks are hugely unreliable during the critical hours afterward.
