I've just tested it on 3 of my Server 2008 R2 machines here (final build, technet ftw). It was unable to crash any of them. I wonder if 2008R2 has any new SMB code we don't know about yet?

Note: all 3 2008R2 machines have open (guest-authable) fileshares available via SMB.

paimin writes "A struggle is breaking out in San Francisco over whether the developer of a publicly-funded installation of real-time tracking for the San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency has a right to control the use of data from the system. The situation is not totally clear, but this sure seems like an attempt to use patent threats to hijack public data. The city paid for the system, and the developer claims he lost money on the deal, so now he's shutting down applications like Routesy and Munitime that use data from the system unless they license the 'copyrighted' data from him."

They do use akamai, at least for the ISO links. When you fire up the technect downloader, it very clearly has an akamai URL.

I grabbed the RC today, and while the technet site itself was slow, once I got to the actual download it was fast enough.

AC is especially hilarious today. MPC is an open-source, mplayer-based gui media player for windows. It takes it's name from its appearance which is similar to the "classic" versions of windows media player.

No, it doesn't. Which is why its not installed by default.

2k8 is entirely "roles" based. DX10 comes along with the "desktop experience" role, which is not there by default.

This fixes it.

Chown the app to a non-root user, and the whoami returns that user.

Have tested ARD afterwards and it still worked for me (Leopard 10.5.3 Intel).

Who wants to bet a security update is out in the next week or so which fixes this?
