The hardware holds up it's end of the deal

The chip makers are just saying "instead of one chip, here are two chips ... joined, and we -technically- have held up Moore's prediction" and now it's the programmer's job to deal with the performance issues. 'Doubling' transistor count this way has always been available, but doesn't hold up the spirit of performance. What is needed are compilers/OSs (together) to perform a task correctly on n processors, not manually rewriting all software.
