Comment Re:A really big tip on progressives after 20 years (Score 1) 464

I have been using progressives for 15+ years simply because I kept forgetting to bring both sets of glasses (distance and reading) with me ... it was just a hassle. That's not to say that getting used to progressives was easy ... I had some really nasty headaches for several weeks. But now that I am used to them, I cannot imagine going back.

I 100% agree with both tips 2 and 3. As for Tip 2 - I always use Aviator frames so that I get a reasonable amount of vertical glass space.

Tip 3 is indeed the really big deal ... I have experienced opticians that want to waste the majority of the vertical space and place the normal vision spot way too low. if your optician refuses to work with you to set the spot properly - get another optician.

Price of electricity clearly depends upon where you live. I recently moved to Ohio (from California) and find that $0.0649/kW-hr is a pretty normal price (depending upon who you selected as an energy provider and when you locked in your rate, etc., etc.)

I know from a California point of view, 0.066/kW-hr might seem really cheap, but California has its own problems when it comes to power.
