Submission + - Microsoft Signs Android Patent Deal with HTC

adeelarshad82 writes: Microsoft and HTC have signed a patent deal that will provide broad coverage under Microsoft's patent portfolio for HTC's mobile phones running the Android mobile platform. The announcement comes in the wake of a massive patent suit from Apple, which alleged 20 instances of patent infringement on the part of HTC.

New features include support for the controversial Microsoft OOXML file format, multi-page views in Writer, and PDF import via an extension. Linux Format has an overview of the new release, asking the question: is it really worth the 3.0 label?"

Dan Kaminsky discovered a basic flaw in the DNS that could allow attackers easily to compromise any name server; it also affects clients.

If you don't understand that, you don't need to care.

What's funny is that the CERT advisory gives Dan Bernstein credit for the work around, which he came up with over 7 years ago.
