Yes, I'd also choose C# over Java, even in *IX programming. Sorry to break your illusion, but it's clearly the better language. Nothing odd about that. Java still receives hype it just doesn't deserve. It's a bloated, clumsy language and just less clean and less elegant than C#.
Simple as that.
