Depending on the scope and scale of a project, some system development initiatives do not call for using a system development methodology in each case.

Journal Journal: Slashdot is ... News that matters

I had recently heard of the Matt Drudge Report on a C-SPAN interview and found the guy so intriguing so I set my homepage to the Drudge Report. After 3 weeks of having my homepage set to that place I was suffering from delusions of paranoid skepticism and pessimism!

Needless to say I had to come back to Slashdot for a dose of fresh water, and it's not just because it's the stuff that matters to me but it really is fair and balanced reporting because users can actually comment.

There's nothing wrong with taking apart your own radio, but if you charge someone to take apart their radio with the intent of fixing it you better know what you're doing. The purpose of certification is to separate people by their capabilities, the success of the certification program being that most people who are certified actually turn out to be competent as their certification claims.
