From the article: 'In a blog post written by Leslie Sobon, the company's vice president of marketing, Sobon describes her life in the largely male-dominated world of technology as being "mostly surrounded by guys all day," but says: "I can tell you that — in general — technical guys are pretty cool," and offers advice on how girls can land a geek guy. Although clearly meant in a lighthearted way, Sobon's missive serves to patronize both her company's customers — who, we learn, are socially inept and bad dressers — and women, who apparently can't understand technology and need to find a nice man who can "fix the TV, your PC, and the sprinkler system" along with other magical item s far too complex for the poor female brain to comprehend.'"

From the article: 'But a new paper in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research suggests that - for reasons that aren't entirely clear - abstaining from alcohol does actually tend to increase one's risk of dying even when you exclude former drinkers. The most shocking part? Abstainers' mortality rates are higher than those of heavy drinkers.'"

Wow...is Karl Rove now the Chief Fiction Editor at the Financial Post? I love the fundamentalist tone of this "beat the truth to death with a single one of its facts" article (I use the term loosely).

Should anyone want to consider more than one of the facts in this matter (and I am not espousing a more thoughtful open-minded and scientific approach to viewing the world)...

European Union legislation to promote the uptake of biodiesel could increase rather than decrease greenhouse gas emissions. A recent study revealed that while petroleum diesel emits 85 percent of its greenhouse gases at the final stage, in the engine, two-thirds of emissions produced by rapeseed derived biodiesel occur during farming -- cropland emits nitrous oxide, which is 200-300 times as potent a greenhouse gas as carbon dioxide.
