So, we have hundreds or thousands of processors. The inclination of people is to try to take one app and try to make use of all that processing power. Maybe our whole focus is wrong. Maybe we should be thinking about actively running 100 or 1000 programs simultaneously where each program is a classic single-threaded program. You wouldn't think about doing this today because it would grind your machine to a halt but in the coming world of many processing elements this is a viable model. It may not be very power efficient but perhaps new apps will emerge that can do something useful for us in the background that don't require constant attention or immediate results.
