I use wajig - a wrapper for apt as well as several other admin commands, written by [e-mail] which has made using apt etc. a whole lot easier for me.

I agree with other posts - once installed Debian has to be one of the easiest distro's I've used -- but shh.. let's not tell anyone.. :-)
