ya well. They didn't draft my younger son. I turn 48 today, in about two hours, to be precise.

Slashdot keeps giving more moderation than I want, but then the Perl code pulls it before it's done---go figger. Reporting a bug is like pissing in the wind...(hard to do without getting wet)...

Anyway - I hate M$ (even as a MCSE) and am working on PHP+mySQL sites now. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel.

OK, I thought I'd just see how this works. I'm an old fart, and I type faster than I think.

Anyway, here's a journal entry for me to lamely put in my 2 cents.

We're about to go to war, it seems, with Iraq. I have a son in the Navy, but he's recruiting stateside, so I'm just worried about millions of other souls who will be in the conflict. Even though he has skills that are important (signalman), I don't think he'll be called into action.

My other son (21) is running a very large network (ISP), and seems to have job security, but I can't help but worry about him, either. The dot-bomb effect, or the government drafting him in the middle of the war. It skills (mostly Linux) will likely be necessary.
