Cisco didn't relabel a product "iPhone", they purchased a company that had a product named "iPhone". Not really a master plan and I'm sure they didn't purchase a VOIP company just to get the name. If they did, settling this means a pretty poorly executed plan.
Apple could have easily argued in court that the entire world calls their product iPhone. That would be hard for Cisco to fight since it's very, very true.
