Comment Music Sheets (Score 1) 128

I use mine to display music sheets. I use an app (SongBook) so I can see the music and hear it at the same time. Great for playing along. The only flaw in the iPad Pro is IOS. If it ran OSX it would be 10x better. When I travel I just use my iPad to remote control my home computer. As clunky as that is it is far easier than trying to do work on an iPad.

Comment Same answer my kids would give me (Score 1) 69

The answer to any difficult or damning question is, âoeI dunno.â I doubt any parent is buying this answer. While the people being interviewed may not know the answer I guarantee you that if Facebook were made uncomfortable enough the answer would pop out very very quickly. How to do that is the hard part.

I didn't realize how much alcohol affected me until I stopped drinking. Even moderate drinking has a negative effect. It disturbs sleep and has an effect on work the next day. It definitely reduces any possible productivity. Now I had fun drinking when I was younger and I would have argued that there is nothing wrong with moderate drinking but now I know what I want and alcohol definitely doesn't take me forward to my goals.

Comment Nuclear energy is so cheap! (Score 1) 161

At least we can rest easy knowing nuclear energy is the cheapest and safest way to produce electricity. As long as we don't count the cost of accidents, decommissioning, land that can no longer be used for other purposes, relocation of people, loss of jobs and industry, and all that waste that has absolutely no place to go and will have to be stored forever. I'm not saying we shouldn't use nuclear energy. I'm saying it's not as cheap as they'd like us to believe.

A woman came to my door and made threats of violence against one of my family members. Then she dragged us to court saying saying we were the ones making threats. I showed the Ring doorbell video to the judge and he told her to leave us alone. I love Ring and now have my house surrounded by Ring cameras.

Every time there is an article on weight someone comes in and says, "people just need to eat less." When you get older you will learn more. Some people are just "fat" and there's nothing they can do about it. My wife and I eat the same meals every day. She is skinny and healthy while I am obese. Same meals. It is NOT always a matter of counting calories. I have two daughters. One can eat a gallon of ice cream every day and she is medically underweight. The other only eats twice a day like a bird and is obese. Science will figure it out eventually but it isn't as simple as people would like to think it is.

Comment Facebook stays because we can find people there (Score 1) 490

When Facebook creates an account for someone that account is FOREVER and I can find people there. Compare this with email addresses which tend to change every few years as people get new internet service. Plus there's no place you can go to find someone's email address. When the internet first went public I asked why the post office doesn't offer an email address to every person the way it assigns a postal address. If they did this it would be FOREVER and we could find people using that method.

Comment Re:No use... (Score 1) 84

I think it comes down to price and portability. When the iTunes store priced music appropriately and eliminated copy protection (giving portability) music piracy almost went away. If the same could be done for movies I believe we would see a repeat in that market as well. It makes no sense that I can buy a slightly older hit movie for $5 out of a bin at Shopko and play it anywhere but if I want it from iTunes (limiting where and how I can play it) I'm stuck paying $15 or even $20.

Comment Re:Lots of cheap housing in US, just not in San Fr (Score 1) 271

When my grandparents were young they couldn't make a living in Kansas farming so they packed all their belongings into their truck and drove to a place where they could earn a living. Like them, I did the same thing when I was young. The idea that someone is entitled to a job where they wish to live makes no sense. You move where the work is.
