I don't consider myself to be the characters I play. I'm more of a puppeteer pulling the strings.

I believe there are several types of players;
  • Those for whom their character is merely a puppet. This is me; I usually refer to my characters in the third person - they're not me, they're my pixelated, remote-controlled pets.
  • Those whose character is an extension of themselves. These are more likely to be the players who are fulfilling an inner desire to be a muscular hero, or a female dwarf (it takes all sorts!)
  • Those who are simply role playing; they become their character while playing the game, but it is no reflection of their true self.
