Submission + - SPAM: Dell pitches Ubuntu over Windows

IP-192.com writes: Dell says that users should buy more computers running Ubuntu Linux. The Round Rock, Texas based information technology company says on Dell’s Ubuntu website that the Debian based Linux distribution is safer than Microsoft Windows. "The vast majority of viruses and spyware written by hackers are not designed to target and attack Linux." While it does not provide any further details, the third largest computer manufacturer in the world says that for computer running the Ubuntu operating system, anti-virus and anti-spyware software is "unwarranted" but comes at extra costs for Windows PC's. However, the site does not mention that "Security Essentials" and "Windows Defender" are free antivirus and anti-spyware offerings from Microsoft.
