But seriously, I totally agree with you. The energy necessary to keep a car/plane airborne does not make it reasonable for us to have personal flying cars as if this was a good ideia. It won't be a good car nor a good plane.

And, agreeing with you again, to fly a regular plane people need lots of training, coordination with tower controllers, planes require a lot more of maintenance, etc etc. The moment flying cars become a real thing, the next day some 16 yrs old drunk rich kid will be news after, I don't know, killing some people after trying to show himself up to a girl (and of course it will be a man, not a woman).

I'm curious. Maybe I experience the same but I would not describe the same way. I have this opinion that humans beings eat too much nowadays. Comment from Brazil here: we don't even pay for the medication at the pharmacy. We just take it "for free" (taxes pay for it, of course). Since we have a centralized system (SUS - 'Single Helthcare System' literally translated), the government buys drugs in huge batches, which drive down costs for everyone, even the people who have to buy their medication for whatever other reason in drug stores. But this system, for about the last three decades, is obviously being attacked. What for? Private healthcare trying to get it and use for profits only. Of course. So, whoever says privatization of everything drives costs down and makes for high efficiency: go understand how Brazilian's public healthcare system (still) works.

We have being doing that for, I don't know, 20 years already? Maybe more. And the software runs on Linux (it's java based), since it's very first beginnings.

I used Plex for quite a while and switched to Jellyfin some 2, 3 years ago, no big deal for me. Don't remember having to rename everything to make it work. It's quite usable, not as well polished as Plex was but it works pretty well. Its android app is free, chromecast works, parental controls are good enough for me, has HW decoding, subtitle download works ok. And finally: you can create additional users directly into jellyfin, without having to login into an external service (as plex requires) and share your media library with anyone with no hasle. I have no regrets moving to jellyfin from plex.

I risk saying that most of the people who buy this kind of thing in Brazil have no idea what's going on and how these TV boxes work. Streaming services are not cheap at all if you live on minimum wage. Moreover, most people here have internet access only via mobile plans, which have data caps like 10, 20GB a month at most. So, yeah, they are not going pay for a streaming subscription plus mobile internet access plus internet at home, which could amount to more than 10, 20% of their monthly income.
