Regulation goes beyond regulation of Netflix (Score 1)

The BTLR report that was released with recommendations to regulate the internet in Canada goes beyond just Netflix and other streaming service (as mentioned by others here). It includes plans consisting of: Mandated payments for Netflix and other streaming services Levies and regulations on social media services Levies and regulations on news aggregators for media fund Payments by Skype and WhatsApp and numerous other similar services to fund broadband This will cause prices to be higher and there will be less choice in Canada. The government wants this plan implemented this year. Itâ(TM)s a power grab of the internet and a cash grab by the government.
