the most serious criticism a customer can make is to "actually return the box. And that almost never happens."

Does anyone actually know of a store that will allow you to return software? Maybe even for cash back? The only one I know of is Babbages, and there's only one in my area at a local mall, and it's not even that big of a store. Selection is low, and what is there is 95% games, not counting the console section. These days, if it's open, the assume that you just copied it and want your money back. Who cares if the software really is crap.

Hell, I even had this problem once with hardware. I purchased a cdr from a local, large business supply chain only to have them tell me that I had likely already copied what I had want to onto a cd, and that no, they weren't going to take it back. That was an intersting fiasco. In the end, however, they took it back. Muhah.
