I went with the Asus MeMO Pad HD 7. It's basically the previous Nexus 7 stats with a memory card slot. The Hisense pro was the other device I was considering. I just checked and it's running Android 4.2.2. The Asus has minimal changes from stock Android, but I like their skin.

The process enjoys advantages over both lasers, which take more time to bore the hole (0.2 vs. 1.4 seconds), and by metal presses, which can leave burrs that must be removed by hand."

A feature at Gamasutra examines one of the foundations of many MMORPGs — the idea that class roles within such a game fall into three basic categories: tank, healer, and damage dealer. The article evaluates the pros and cons of such an arrangement and takes a look at some alternatives. "Eliminating specialized roles means that we do away with boxing a class into a single role. Without Tanks, each class would have features that would help them participate in and survive many different encounters like heavy armor, strong avoidance, or some class or magical abilities that allow them to disengage from direct combat. Without specialized DPS, all classes should be able to do damage in order to defeat enemies. Some classes might specialize in damage type, like area of effect (AoE) damage; others might be able to exploit enemy weaknesses, and some might just be good at swinging a sharpened bit of metal in the right direction at a rapid rate. This design isn't just about having each class able to fill any trinity role. MMO combat would feel more dynamic in this system. Every player would have to react to combat events and defend against attacks."

When an UK man was asked to be the best man at a friend's wedding he agreed that he would not pull any pranks before or during the ceremony. Now the groom wishes he had extended the agreement to after the blessed occasion as well. The best man snuck into the newlyweds' house while they were away on their honeymoon and placed a pressure-sensitive device under their mattress. The device now automatically tweets when the couple have sex. The updates include the length of activity and how vigorous the act was on a scale of 1-10.

Scientists Say a Dirty Child Is a Healthy Child 331

Researchers from the School of Medicine at the University of California have shown that the more germs a child is exposed to, the better their immune system in later life. Their study found that keeping a child's skin too clean impaired the skin's ability to heal itself. From the article: "'These germs are actually good for us,' said Professor Richard Gallo, who led the research. Common bacterial species, known as staphylococci, which can cause inflammation when under the skin, are 'good bacteria' when on the surface, where they can reduce inflammation."

'In fact, a company may save money by hiring international students because the majority of them are exempt from Social Security (FICA) and Medicare tax requirements,' advises the taxpayer-supported University of Pittsburgh (pdf) as it makes the case against hiring its own US students. You'll find identical pitches made by the University of Delaware, the University of Cincinnati, Kansas State University, the University of Southern California, the University of Wisconsin, Iowa State University, and other public colleges and universities. The same message is also echoed by private schools, such as John Hopkins University, Brown University, Rollins College and Loyola University Chicago."

And it sucks more in the US because you usually can't get treatment because there's no way a person with schotzophrenia (or most other mental illnesses) can hold a job

Untrue, there are federal programs for people with mental illness to afford housing and necessary drugs. I know because I have relatives who are schizophrenic.

Many people with schizophrenia aren't able to successfully jump through the multitude of hoops required to deal with any government program.

I'm willing to put my neck on the line somewhat to avoid a CT in a toddler who just has overprotective parents, but your fat, diabetic, smoking, sedentary, litigious ass is just not cute enough to get the my sympathy.

Funny you should mention toddlers and CT scans. We just ran into this the other night with my daughter. She had a 3-4 foot fall onto concrete. Ended up with a head bump and a nose bleed. The EMTs at the arena suggested we take her into the ER because of the bleeding nose (even though it was likely she hit it). We brought her into the ER and had the doctor check her out just in case. The doctor examined her and explained when and why they might want to do a CT scan, but suggested that she should be fine without one. It sounded like many parents didn't want to hear no from him. Anyhow, we didn't get a CT scan because the benefits didn't outweigh the risks and the next day she was fine.

It's interesting that your collection folks work business hours. We did the donated cord blood thing. In the case of our son, they sent us a kit ahead of time and the delivery doctor did the collection and handled returning it.

Our other kids were twins and they wouldn't take the cord blood because of some specific problems that twins can have. I thought it was a shame because they has separate placenta, so there wasn't any chance of the issues they were worried about.
