I don't see a description of what is banned. Just use of facial recognition on school surveillance? Or would it include facial recognition based authentication systems?

The 600lb gorrilla in retail is Walmart, if the FTC broke up Amazon it leaves Walmart's retail monopoly unchallenged.
The core problem with email attachments is they have to be encoded down to a text format.. uuencode (old) , mime / base64 (newer but still old).. either of these result in a 4/3 increase in size from the native binary attachment. That's inefficient for storage / transmission. Deduplication is not a fix for this, it's a bandaid to help mitigate local storage issues. Fixing the issue requires a revamp of the smtp protocols. It's long overdue.
The link you reference says nothing about the iphone being a general computing device or 'handheld computer'. It can run apps, that's all you are saying. Lots of appliance devices can run apps.
The phone is more of an appliance.
It's not. It's a handheld computer that's been locked down with an app store but otherwise relies upon third party software for a substantial portion of its functionality (and Apple's own revenues by way of the app store).
This is like complaining that Ford Sync radios do not allow third party navigation apps to be installed either.
But it's certainly not at all like Macs with ethernet, Bluetooth, and WiFi communications that can only be accessed by Safari. Oh wait, that doesn't happen with other Apple general purpose devices now, does it.
It's not sold or marketed as a handheld computer.. A google search for 'handheld computer' doesn't list phone devices. Just because a product has a CPU, doesn't make it a general purpose computer. SmartTV's have app stores, I consider those appliances. Game consoles aren't considered general purpose computers, and they certainly have enough processing power to qualify. I don't consider any arguments that phones are the same as general purpose computer as valid.
Might almost think "correlation is not causation"
Whether you have 71000 or 50000 applications is irrelevant when there's only around 3500 positions available. It's the difference between 5% acceptance rate vs 7% acceptance rate. Whether they require a test score or not, it's very unlikely you'll get admitted.
Article 5(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in common with existing data protection legislation in many jursidictions, defines requirements for accuracy of personal data. If the job title that a person held is regarded as personal data then Apple is in breach if it changes this data to something that does not reflect a true value and, worse, then exports that data out into other systems.
Why would it not be a breach to export it to external systems? it's personal information they aren't allowed to share without permission
why should a 3rd party company have detailed job titles for any employees of any company? I consider that a data breach. so much for tik tok, facebook, google being the privacy bad guys.
nvidia is already an arm licensee, there's nothing stopping them from exploiting the platform from that direction.
There are still non-smart phones in the world. Some people still buy them, use them and prefer them. Just suggesting some other app that another smart phone user can access is not a solution that covers universal messaging. If RCS is the new SMS and will work on the carrier side from archaic flip phones, then when RCS replaces SMS on the carrier side, iMessage will be updated to fall back to RCS instead of SMS.
That's underestimating the obesity problem. I would agree that people who are 10-20 lbs over their ideal weight range don't have a problem. 50lbs over is a health problem and contributes to diabetes, htn, cancer, etc. You don't have to be almost double your ideal weight before it becomes an issue.
As long as he's keeping backups of his work, I see no problem.
The 1984 version would be better placed as a mother telling you a story as you fall asleep.
I think the style from the book fits that model better.
If you know the story, the movie is more faithful to the book. If you don't know the story, the movie doesn't introduce it well. You could probably cut the exposition from the 1984 version and splice it to the correct sections in the 2021 movie and have a better experience.
