To get Word and Excel to start working again:
Open Nortons Control Panel - this might take
a few minutes while it is broken but it
will come up eventually. Under the Miscellaneous
Section of Anti Virus, deselect the Enable Office
Plug-in.
That will not fix any general slowness in Norton,
but it will allow you to read your Word/Excel
documents.
