It really is a shame that people can't see five feet past their own interests

Anyone sad that Broadway won't have *real* musicians anymore? *Yawn* ... didn't think so.

Anyone sad that people won't have access to an *open* internet anymore? *Yawn*... didn't think so.

Oh wait? Just the people here? Whose interests and possibly livelihoods depend on it?

You don't think there are people whose interests and livelihoods depend on creating (or even recreating) music? If Broadway isn't your bag, (can't say it's mine) at least show some sympathy for the musicians if you can't bring yourself to care about the art.

I'm not trying to rag on you, but anyone of us could be considered machine-replaceable in the not so distant future.

When they came for the artists blah blah blah I said nothing....

I remember the ARRL actively seeking the dropping of the code requirement. And hear they refer to the change as long awaited...

I agree with your overall assessment of the current state and likely future of the craft, but I've always considered the ARRL to be good stewards of the science.

Considering the expense and investment of time necessary to start in amateur radio, and the fact that the internet duplicates and extends its functionality to such an extent, the Hams decline seems an unfortunate inevitability. It really is too bad. IMing someone in Japan is not the same as shaking the air from Chicago to Kyoto.

That and I'm pretty sure I got an erection the first time I bounced a transmission off the atmosphere. That did not happen with my first e-mail.

Family To Sell Cave Home On eBay 6

The credit crunch has hit cave dwellers. A Missouri family has been forced to sell the 17,000-square-foot home they created in a cave. Instead of renting a few rooms to troglodytes or morlocks, the Sleeper family have decided to list the cave on eBay. Curt Sleeper said, "We don't want to move, but we need to protect our equity. We put everything we had into this home."
