Nobody knows where peak demand is on EVs. The supply chain is a good way to meter sales and see if there is a drop off. There is a reason for government mandates. Many people are just not ready to buy an EV yet.

Some good news for once on climate change. Usually its gloom and doom constantly.

Since when does consumer choice not benefit consumers? Oh yeah when there is a government mandate involved.

I applaud the conservationists and we should protect environment over the rush to build out ANY energy source or any building project for that matter. We should reduce our usage of land space and nature.

ICE cars are easy to recycle. How are they coming along with battery recycling? Until then off to the landfill. Not sure how toxic lithium is. If it ignites a landfill that would release a lot of other toxins into the atmosphere. Lots of hand waving and hopes and dreams I see from you and other EV enthusiasts. Maybe your assumptions will come true some day.

The problem I see right now and perhaps itâ(TM)ll change is that EVs are not DIY fixable and companies like Tesla donâ(TM)t sell parts. The model 3 is a disposable product like the iPhone. Howâ(TM)s that good for the environment? A good analogy I heard on Rich Rebuilds video is the Tesla is like a iPhone watch. Destined to end up in a land fill. Old classic mechanical ICE cars are like Rolex watches. Neither destined for a land fill.

The point of this article is to NOT bring up the short comings of the BEV. Which are many. Its more about the short comings of the energy supply. The fact that nuclear plants have been shut down. The obvious revelation that solar and wind are not coming to the rescue. Hopes and prayers are not going to make electricity. The CA government is marching full steam ahead towards a dystopian future or an Extinction Rebellion wet dream of living in caves and eating bark and weeds.

Good points however where the civic May excel is longevity and ease of DIY maintenance. Id suspect the Civic will easily reach 200k. And probably 400k miles with proper maintenance. The jury is still out on how long EV batteries last. It seems to hinge on recharge cycles and temperature management. CA has year long ideal temperature. Many other states have hot summers and very cold winters. Also As the range dwindles the recharge cycle rate goes up.

Are you living in a science fiction book? Many markets outside Europe and US will not be able to buy or support EVs for decades. Travel around and see how people live who are not in rich urban centers.

You are paying for the convenience of using liquid fuel. A surcharge if you will. Enjoy.
