Journal cyranoVR's Journal: What a Day 6

US FENCING HAS PUT THE WORLD ON NOTICE: HERE WE COME!

This has been such a year for US Fencing, and that I have been lucky enough to have been a part of it and to know personally many of the people involved...I don't know where to start...

And it's not over.

  • I've always seen fencing on TV as part of the Olympic coverage. What new message is being sent to me?
    • You are mistaken. Fencing has never been shown on TV coverage in the United States.

To see it on mainstream NBC for even a few touches is something we have not seen before. The sport is about to take on a new era in our country. We are no longer the medal-less fencers like we were for so many years. We are now a major power, like Italy, France, and Russia.

Check out the subject line. I'm not in the United States.

        • Doh! Sorry. I misread the JE (or has it changed?). I missed the "US" in front of "FENCING" -- which totally changes the meaning.
    • That the United States is becoming a major power in fencing and is going to start taking out the "top" european fencers and bringing home (more) medals?

      • Sorry. I misread your JE. I missed the word "US" so I read it as fencing saying "Here we come" to the world outside of fencing, rather than US fencing saying it to the rest of the fencing world.

Wasn't trying to be snarky -- just genuinely confused. Not too unusual for me :-)

Help me, I'm a prisoner in a Fortune cookie file!

Working...
