Journal cyranoVR's Journal: Speaking Truthiness to Power 3
In case you missed it, Stephen Colbert's speech to the White House Correspondents Dinner is available on YouTube:
Part I
Part II
Part III
Addressing the reporters, he said, "Let's review the rules. Here's how it works. The president makes decisions, he's the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions down. Make, announce, type. Put them through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kicking around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration. You know -- fiction."
Many "blogs" have pointed out that the audience doesn't really laugh that much (except at the "marshmallow center" line, which brought down the house). I tend to think that it was because they, like myself, watch Colbert's show every night and knew that he was re-using most of his best lines from his inaugaral season ("Did you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than in your head?" etc.)

"Hey! Why did we go to war in Iraq?"
"NOOOOO!!"
Colbert FTW.

He might not have had the room, but those who "get it", got it.
You might want to go here [http], and read about the "cone of silence" that some of the mainline media have regarding his performance, then follow the link to comedy central to email them and let them know you support him.
