Hey all I noticed the little comment that Rob placed about power management and Linux. Well there is good news in that front. Currently the ACPI (advanced configuration and power interface) being worked on. Its for the 2.4 kernel. If you have a laptop that supports this protocal then you are in luck. http://phobos.fs.tum.de/acpi/download.html check it out.
