One of the most important aspects of an open
source CPU is it's ability to help educate.
When I was a kid the design specs of a CPU were
beyond the reach of the general population. Now,
with the help of the open source movement and
digital design languages anyone who can read code
can begin to understand the structures behind the
hardware.
