Despite that, this kind of feedback is great. PCs need a wider array of 'generic output' devices which can be tailored to people's needs.

I build one myself for the sake of trying it. It's really easy and really cheap. I don't really have any use for it, but it's basically one or more LEDs at the end of a parallel port cable. programming it is also pretty easy.
could easily be used for that kind of stuff...
