The cops and the fire dept. busted me when I was a kid for making hydrogen by reacting aluminum foil with liquid Draino! Of course, what pissed them off was the fact that I was using the hydrogen to fill up balloons that I would float up with a lit string attached, so they would explode, mid-air, into fireballs! The best part about this story is that I had learned how to do this nefarious act step by step, in school from a gonzo science teacher!
