They are conveniently forgetting that it was technology (printing press) that enabled these profits in the first place. Situation is similar in other industries: copyright law is obsolete.

Comment Newer schemes (Score 1) 141

The tree planting scheme I have seen last includes taking care of the trees by natives and regular photos. It is possible newer ones will take a similar route, even though more expensive. Then people may find it is too much bother for too small a gain and that tree planting is not a scalable solution to the climate crisis.

My reasons for running Linux containers on Windows is that I develop in Windows because of accessibility ( let's face it, in Linux it is still not good and I have found no sufficient alternative to Dragon naturally speaking/Dragonfly yet). I will probably revert to using a VM as well, the Docker machine also does it (Virtual Box) when I do not need to deal with ports and the inside of the VM, sadly it is not supported anymore and just recently it has stopped working for me. The slowness does not matter that much for development as opposed to production. WSL 1 Is slow but invaluable for simple text tasks without the need to install something like Cygwin.

Despite the mean and elitist form, I agree with the sentiment. Current noncustodial wallets really require adhering to some rules, not giving private keys being part of it, that most people will not do. Problem is, "classical" financial institutions do not want to do anything with cryptocurrencies and with a custodial wallet you are even worse off, believing some random guys you have never even seen. Until crypto is a bit more official, I don't see a good solution.

This is simply not true. I have had some cryptocurrency and exchanged most of it for goods and services (i.e. paid). Exchanging it for money does not make much sense to me, particularly now, unless there is something I have to buy with money.
