WILL YOU PLEASE STOP with this "pity the poor" crap! I come from a family of 9 who lived on $80. a week when I was growing up. I went to school and studied hard instead of whining about how bad my life was. many a day I went without food as there was none to be had and most of my food was in the form of free lunches at school. I went to College on my own dime and when the money ran out i went into the Military to pay for my college.
When I got out I worked two minimum wage jobs for over 3 years till I landed a job at Chrysler and worked there for over 20 years. I now owm my home and am buying more property. I have a nice six figure retirement 401K account that I had them invest 10% of my paychek in each week. I paid cash for a brand new car and will be doing the same in purchasing a new truck in 2 years because it will have something i want and it wont be available till then. I have GIVEN away three cars to family and friends as well as loaned out over 15,000. to family and friends with no hope of ever seeing it again. I have given over $50,000. to charity and soup kitchens and this is not counting all the free work I have done for them as well. My estate will be worth well over 1.5 MILLION when I die according to the Tax Attorneys and my accountants and I own well over 100,000 shares of stock.
Am I bragging? NO! I am showing you what a little hard work and common sense can and will do if you apply yourself. Most of the people you call "poor" would be considered extremely wealthy in most places of the world where people walk because they have no car. People go to bed at dusk because they have no electric. People live in grass and mud houses because they have no homes. People starve because they have no food stamps or money to buy food with. people die from the heat because they have no AC to cool themselves with. People have no TV's or radios to entertain themselves. people die because they have no medical care. I could go on but you get the picture I hope as even the "poor" in the US have ALL this available to them and more.
I worked my way out of poverty and now sit at home retired from work WELL before my 65th birthday (about 19 years before same) and make over $52,000.00 a year from the intrest off my investments and my retirement from Chrysler.
Again I am not bragging but trying to show you that if I can do it, ANYONE can do it. So please cease with this "pity the poor" crap as I am not buying it and neither should you.
