Comment Where goes external store after nuclear war? (Score 0, Flamebait) 398

Hawkins may be brilliant but he is missing a core value of human beings.
Someone ALWAYS wants to rule us all.
We fight wars.
We have the bomb.
The arabs will soon have the bomb.
The arabs are crazy.
Soon we will all die.
When we are all back to living the 'green' life and there are only 10% of the people we have today.....how good do you think that store of knowledge is going to be?
How will people access it? After the first generation, how will they understand it? After ten generations is will be all lost and mostly myth.
I think I will trust to my dna in order to continue life in some way rather than the vague hope that someone one day will read the technical papers I have written.

Sorry, but I think we will blow ourselves back into the bronze age sometime soon (at least in evolutionary terms).

What scientific proof do you have for the statement " Destroy science and religion. Science will re-emerge exactly the same; but not religion"

What experiments have been performed that indicates this is true? In my opinion, it is simply a matter of FAITH that science will re-emerge exactly the same which is what Religion is based upon, not science. If God exists, then perhaps religion will re-emerge exactly the same. The point is that no one knows if either would re-emerge the same. No significant scientific experiments have been performed and religion does not need proof.

I do not know who Penn Jilette is and have not goggled him. However, I can tell you that based upon his statement, I don't see how he could have been a scientist.

Give an ascii art picture and asc the user to tell what it is.

In this case cock would let you through.

Because if you had read the article, you would know that if it is easy for a human to decipher, then it is easy for a human to get paid to decipher thousands of them.

If you pay a guy in africa a few bucks to do this, then you don't need bots to crack your ascii picture.

Two points. 1. I agree with you that the USA CAN take out these sites easily enough. I do not think it has the WILL to do so any more. Unless Obama grows a pair, it will be the next president that has to deal with this mess. The rest of this presidency will be concerned with 'negotiations'. Lots of talk. No military action at all unless it can be hidden from the public or unless it can be blamed on the last president. 2. The cost of something does not necessarily correspond with the value. Though it is clear that the US outspends everyone else on the military, and it is also clear that the US military is the best in the world, one did not necessarily follow from the other. Statistics are funny. If Bill Gates spends 1 million dollars on a new hair brush and I spend 5 dollars on a new hairbrush, he would have grossly outspent me but he would not necessarily have a better hairbrush. Similarly, I would have spent a significantly greater portion of my Gross Domestic Product than Mr. Gates on haircare though the dollar figures were quite different. Conclusion: The crisis the world faces today is not that of the ability of the US to police the rogue states. It is the lack of will of the US to continue to be the worlds police. This is just the beginning of the flexing of muscles against the untested new American president. I hope he can rise to the occasion but I have my doubts.

North Korea does not need a successful missle launch at this time. They just need a missle launch and a bunch of press. By doing this early in the regime of the new American fearless leader, they will scare the skirts off of the ladies in the white house. The only way these yahoos know how to deal with a show of force is by sitting at a table and negotiating something away. A good talking to is what those boys in Korea need. There are gonna be some scolding going on tomorrow. LOL All North Korea has to do is do something crazy every now and again (and their fearless leader has that game down pat) and the pansy's running the new US government will provide them will all the technology, food, and world legitimacy that they could ever want. By the time the likes of Pelosi and Franks have finished bending over, North Korea will have met every goal they have. Billy Clinton was a blessing to them but Obama and the other ladies are going to make Billy seem hardcore.

Using the term 'outing' as a loaded weapon is all this article is about. If someone is talking about me, then I sure as heck have the right to track down who it is. If he is smart, he is doing his best to hide from my wrath. However, it is not the governments job to protect every asshole from his own mouth. If he does not want people to know he said it, he should not say it. This covers 99% of cases (including the one in question). However, for the more anal amongst you, I do agree that there may be certain circumstances where anonymous speech is protected. Of course, now that the government is run by socialists, it will depend upon the political correctness of the speech as determined by Nancy Pelosi and her friends as to if it should be protected or not
